• Very poor service - still!

  I paid �£200 just over a year ago to have a specific problem with my grandmother clock corrected. During this time my clock was away for eight weeks, and I only got it back after a fruitless journey to Rochdale and a letter of complaint. The problem recurred four months later. I wrote a total of five letters about this during the past spring and summer, asking for it to be sorted out under guarantee. Most of my letters were ignored or allegedly failed to arrive. I received one reply asking me to take the clock back for inspection, but my subsequent letters offering and/or requesting suitable dates to do this were never answered. Phoning was pointless, as the answer phone was always on and messages were not answered. I understand the owner was ill for a time, but that does not excuse this complete and continuing lack of communication. From other reviews on this site it seems that the owner is no longer ill, but he has not had the courtesy to contact me. Sadly, I have to agree with Lawrence B’s first review: “Fails to honour guarantee, No receipts or guarantee paperwork. Fails to answer telephone calls or letters. Steer well clear.”

  Long case clock built 1732 and in our family since. Tired movement and shabby case perfectly restored. Missing fretwork replaced so well I can't see the join. Excellent job by Alex who really cares about his work.

  I was reluctant to have our family long case clock restored, I chose Oldham’s and I am delighted with the results. The whole job was done by them movement, dial and case I cannot recommend them enough, I was kept updated on progress every step of the way and the price I paid was the price they quoted. Worth every penny!
