An old country inn serving excellent food. seafood and game specialities.real log fires and memorabilia. fabulous views over saddleworth moor. Delicatessen, farm shop and tea rooms. Wines and champagnes, chocolates, cakes. home baked pork pies. wonderful sausage and well hung sourced meat and game.
Worst place I ever visited. Visited 9 Jan 2011. STaff said they catered for very young children when we booked - but they simply do not. No childrens menu, no high chairs, no baby changing - all they would offer was half portions of meat and roast at that. We asked for half fish pie and were told to leave in a very unapologetic and aggressive manner. DO NOT GO WITH CHILDREN. Simply cannot recommend.
Visited this pub with my girlfriend and enjoyed a lovely steak sandwich and drinks by the log fire. Lovely atmosphre and really oldy worldy. The only thing that stops me giving a 10, is the fact that they did not serve food on the stated times and had run out of beer. Then again you can't have it all. Now a place we go to be alone and feel at home by a lovely fire.
